Imagine you walk into your kitchen and it’s a right old mess. Dishes everywhere, pots that still need to be washed, ingredients on the countertop that you didn’t get around to putting away, maybe piles of recipes that you meant to cook but now feel like you can’t be bothered.
Cue the take away order, right?

Now imagine you walk into a clean and open space, countertops empty and wiped, fresh food in the fridge, pantry well stocked. Everything is ready to go.
Cue pour the wine and let’s get cooking!

Decluttering can motivate you to live the life you really want

After a long day, it is so much more enticing to get cooking in a tidy and inviting kitchen. Rather than having to do a full deep clean first… Both those scenarios above happen in our house, I won’t pretend that my kitchen is always tidy! But there is no doubt that I enjoy cooking so much more when I don’t have to move everything out of the way first.

Decluttering isn’t just about having less items. A clean and tidy kitchen not just looks nice, but it can motivate you to live the lifestyle you really want. You are able to do the things you aspire to because it makes them a lot easier to achieve. More plant based meals, fresh smoothies, home baked cakes… whatever it is you would like to have more of in your diet and life, it is so much easier to implement in a space that you feel joyful in, and ready to get crackin’.

It’s never just about what you want to cook and eat, it’s also about how you want to feel while you are preparing it.

Finding fun ways to store things

It can be fun to look at different ways of how to store your treasures. Have a look at your chopping boards and baking trays. When you’re sure you’ve narrowed them down to what you want to keep, you may find that it will be handy to store them vertically. I’ve bought a very inexpensive stationary divider (in gold – I don’t mind a bit of sparkle occasionally) and every time I open the cupboard to get a board or a tray out, it makes me happy.

Creating a perfect space for your items is very satisfying.  Not just because you can get to them easier, but also because storing things beautifully means you look after them.

Much love,
