Mother’s Day is just around the corner and I’ve got a lovely high tea planner to share with you. Simple recipes even kids can stir together. Or dad’s ;). Plus tips and handy planning pages. But before I do that, I’m going to tell you what I want for Mother’s Day this year, in the hope that it may inspire you to ask for what you REALLY want too.
Ask for what you really want
This year for Mother’s Day, I want a day all to myself.
My children are 4 and almost 1, and I absolutely adore them. I’m also pretty exhausted. Not in the ‘I can’t take it anymore’ kinda way, but enough to make me reflect on what it is that I need right now. And whilst I love a good themed day and am all for precious gifts made in daycare (Finn’s handprint from last year still hangs on our gallery wall), pink slippers, pj’s and breakfast in bed, this year I need to hand over the kids to my husband and be my own woman!
I plan on taking myself out for coffee and a spot of shopping. Most importantly I will be able to take my time, rather than hurriedly getting through a to-do list. The last time I went shopping for myself, I kid you not, I had 15 minutes to quickly try on some things. Afterwards I rushed to get the weekly shop done and then back home to sort out the family.
The choice is entirely yours!
This may not apply to you in exactly the same way. But Mother’s Day is meant to be a day for us mums and you shouldn’t be afraid to make it what you want.
Maybe that is a day out on your own or with girlfriends. Maybe that is something completely different. It might even involve the kids (hah), but the point is you get to choose.
As I’m typing this I actually think this high tea planner should be handed out to dads! So they may throw a high tea party for mum and her girlfriends while they take all the kids to the playground!
I’m getting on to that :).
You can download the High Tea Planner here.
If you are in the Melbourne to Bendigo area, you can go the extra mile and rent gorgeous vintage high tea sets at Betty May Vintage Hire!
Have a fabulous weekend, ask for what you really want, and eat something delicious.
Much love,
Katrine x
