This is my Omi’s herring salad recipe, which she traditionally served around Christmas. I had forgotten how much I loved it until I made it recently. Given that the seasons are the other way around in Australia, I can now enjoy it twice a year: at Christmas and in winter ;).
It hadn’t occurred to me sharing it here, because in all honesty I thought it was a weird German thing. But then my husband polished off two servings and that changed my mind. Who would I be if I kept this deliciousness from you!
P.S. Herring in German is spelt Hering.
